General description of the collection: The Franz Halder papers include seven typescript mimeograph volumes comprising "The Private War Journal of Generaloperst Franz Halder". His personal war diary, kept from 14 August 1939 - 24 September 1942 while Chief of the German General Staff, was transcribed from the original shorthand, and reviewed by Halder prior to final preparation. Includes three volumes of maps.
